8th blacksheep Bandcontest

The blacksheep band contest for the FÖRCH Young Talent Award 2023 will take place for the eighth time. It is aimed at young bands who make their own music. Four bands compete against each other. The winning band will perform on Saturday, 24th June, at the 8th Blacksheep Festival – Live in the Castle Park in Bonfeld. Last year’s winners was Kid the Child from Munich.

This year, for the first time, the contest will take place as a mixture of online voting and a live performance.

Your fans can vote for you online for 14 days at our website. A jury of bookers, musicians and music critics as well as a knowledgeable audience will then face the four bands on Saturday, 22nd April, in the machine factory in Heilbronn. But before:

We proudly announce the 8th blacksheep band contest about the FÖRCH Newcomer Award! Four bands are playing live on Saturday 22th April in Heilbronn, Maschinenfabrik. There, together with the audiance and a jury we are looking for the best and most talented artists! The winnerband is plaing at the 8th blacksheep Festival on Saturday, 22nd June in Bonfeld.

• Application deadline and start of the selection process: Saturday, 28th March, 11 pm
• Online voting: 1st to 15th April 2023
• Band Contest: Saturday, 22nd April, from 7 pm
• Performance at the blacksheep festival: Saturday, 24th June 2023, from 3.30 pm

Conditions

• Age: The mean age of the bands hould not be older than 27, please send us a copy of the passport from every band member
• Repertoire: Only real songwriting, coverversions are not accepted. No matter which genre: rock, pop, country, folk, accustic or blues. You should easily play for about 30 minutes. Your lyrics and your stage presentation must not be in contradiction with the applicable law or the constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany.
• Costs: There are no costs for competitors. If needed, we are looking for an accomodation for your overnight stay.

Please send your application along with your informative documents to contest@blacksheep-kultur.de by Saturday, 15th March 2023, 6 pm at the latest. The two-week online voting begins on 1st April 2023.

The application must contain: music material (e.g. links to music videos and/or music demos), visuals of the band, names and ages of the band members, press release and tech rider

What do contest bands get?

• Our contest bands get, depending where they come from, a salary of 250 till 500 Euro.
• If you want, you get afterwards a feedback from the jury
• Every bandmember gets three drinks and some food for free
• Every competitor gets free entry to the blacksheep Festival on Saturday, 29th June
• The winner performes at the blacksheep Festival on Saturday, 24th June 2023, at 3.30pm. The band gets a salary  of 1000 Euro, catering and an overnight stay. The winner is also aloud to bring 20 friends or fans to the festival.

Some words about the online voting

We hope that as many of you as possible will be there and vote! It’s worth it: Among all those who take part, we are giving away 5 x 2 tickets for the blacksheep festival 2023.

The jury will include your votes in the result. We will unlock the voting platform on April 1st at 00:04! You can vote until April 15th. We’ll explain how it’s done with a video when the time comes.
