Andreas Kümmert and Siggi Schwarz at the 9th blacksheep Festival
For his 50th stage anniversary in 2023, the German guitar legend Siggi Schwarz has released a 3-CD album entitled “50 Years of Rock’n’Roll – Live & Rare”. There are many unreleased live and studio recordings on it – and a real star line-up. The CD contains recordings from very special concerts and also shows which musical greats Siggi Schwarz is on tour with.
The exceptional guitarist can be heard there, for example, with ex-Manfred Mann’s Earth Band singer Chris Thompson. His appearance with ex-Climax Blues Band guitarist Pete Haycock in the opening act for ZZ Top as well as club concerts with ex-Peter Maffay, Frumpy and Atlantis guitarist Frank Diez are documented.
There are also unreleased studio recordings with Chris Thompson and drum legend Pete York (ex-Spencer Davis Group) as well as further material together with the Toto musicians Bobby Kimball and Steve Lukather, the ex-Smokie singer Chris Norman, the ex-Tina Turner guitarist Laurie Wisefield, guitarist Geoff Whitehorn (Procol Harum), ex-Whitesnake and Gary Moore bassist Neil Murray and Lake guitarist Alex Conti.
Now the versatile Siggi Schwarz comes to us with Andreas Kümmert – and we expect nothing less than a major musical event on our enchanting village stage.
The Great Voice of Andreas Kümmert
Andreas Kümmert is considered THE blues-rock singer par excellence. His characterful voice and talent for great songs that give you goosebumps are almost legendary. Music has been his language for as long as he can remember.
In 2013 he achieved his breakthrough: with his own composition “Simple Man” Kümmert won the TV show “The Voice Of Germany”. Since then he has been on everyone’s lips with his unique blues and soul voice and continues to be consistently successful.
2023 will mark the tenth anniversary of his victory – reason enough to take to the country’s stages again with a brand new album. Because: Kümmert has used the past two pandemic years extensively to work intensively on his new record with his two colleagues Stefan Kahne and Michael Germer. “I always thought it had to continue”, he says. He stays strong and it pays off.
Andreas Kümmert has also released a new album in 2023. It has the expressive title “Working class hero” and encompasses all facets of the exceptional artist – from expressive rock’n’roll numbers to rousing ballads. Brian Cannon is responsible for the album cover – the graphic designer and photographer, who has already worked for Oasis and The Verve, worked for a German artist for the first time. A special highlight is a newly recorded version of his former “The Voice” hit “Rocket Man” on the album.
The song originally comes from Elton John. However, Kümmert made it his own style back then. The track still earns him his nickname “Rocket Man” to this day. A description of the Andreas Kümmert phenomenon: a down-to-earth, completely grounded character who suddenly explodes on stage. “The song is simply part of my story,” says Kümmert. “I thought it deserved to be on an album.”
After the first single “Leave the Radio on” from the upcoming album has already been released and now “Miracles” follows, fans can get in the mood for the upcoming album release shows:
Live, visitors can expect a real fireworks display of joy in playing and musical ability. You can look forward to an energetic show with a cross-section of Kümmert’s entire song Reportoire. Of course, goosebumps moments are included – as you would expect.
